US Concerns on Pakistan's Ban of PTI

In response to Pakistan's government decision to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and initiate Article 6 proceedings against its leaders, including founder Imran Khan, the United States has expressed significant concern.

US Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller addressed the issue during a State Department briefing, stating that such actions against a political party are alarming. Miller emphasized the US stance in supporting democratic principles, including human rights and freedom of expression. He underscored the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring equal justice, asserting that the US will closely monitor further developments, particularly any decisions made by the courts.

Miller also condemned political violence, citing recent incidents both domestically and internationally, and reiterated the US commitment to promoting respect for democratic rights and principles worldwide.
